The Lie
Short & sweet
World-class dance and poetry for the little ones, created by the renowned choreographer Catherine Dreyfus!
THE LIE is the delicate story of a little girl who lied at the dinner table one evening. When she enters her bedroom, she finds her lie in the form of a red circle. When she wakes up the next morning, it’s still there, insistent and indelible, and when she goes to bed at night, it’s still there. As the days go by, the circle swells and multiplies, invading her space and preventing her from breathing properly.
Still curious?
Step into the girl’s world and experience the story from her perspective, where a small grain of sand becomes a mountain. Follow her into her inner universe – a swirling obsession filled with poisonous mushrooms, dreams, hallucinations, and nightmares. You will never know what the lie is about – it’s between her and it, just like lies are always between liars and their lies, everywhere.
The project is based on a book by author Catherine Grives, who with grace and ease portrays an inner struggle we have all experienced. Through movement, the girl’s emotional states are conveyed, and you will experience how the story becomes a sensory journey. Three artists from different disciplines – two dancers and a circus artist – bring the story to life.
