Monumental Construction - Aarhus Edition (FR)

During this year's ILT Festival, the citizens of Aarhus, young and old, are invited to work together to build a gigantic and visually impressive monument of cardboard, specially designed for Aarhus and the ILT Festival, thus creating a new city inside the city. The spectacular outdoor art project, MONUMENTAL CONSTRUCTION - AARHUS EDITION by French artist Olivier Grossetête, brings together the citizens for a joint artistic project, for both young and old and makes it possible for everyone regardless of gender, age, religion, social status and ethnic background to create something magnificent together. Because together we can move mountains ... or at least a monumental cardboard construction measuring almost 20 meters high and weighing more than 1 ton.

GRAND CONSTRUCTION CEREMONY AND JOINT DECONSTRUCTION

The city is transformed into a stage when the monument is assembled and erected by the citizens of Aarhus and culminates in a grand ceremony where local artists stage the monument.

All citizens - children as well as adults - are also invited to help with the deconstruction of the cardboard monument the next day. The symbolic destruction moment is just as entertaining and involving as the building project itself. Come and join us!

Would you like to help build a gigantic cardboard monument in the city centre during the ILT Festival? We are looking for participants for workshops in the days leading up to the festival.

MONUMENTAL CONSTRUCTION - AARHUS EDITION is a participation project that is 100% dependent on the support of the public. The project is to build a monument of cardboard boxes and brown tape.

Everyone can join no matter their age. Everyone gets instruction and guidance along the way, cutting and taping cardboard boxes together which eventually become an impressive prehistoric monument to be erected at Havnepladsen during the ILT Festival.
