Invisible Lands (SE/FI)

WITHOUT HOME AND WITHOUT HOPE
Over the desert, up the mountain and over the sea - the day the war broke out, they left their homes. The Arab Spring became a catalyst for a major scale human catastrophe. Millions had to flee their bombed houses and their homeland to embark on a dangerous journey into Europe. Many died along the way and even more are still refugees without a home and without hope for the future.

A LIVING STAGE
INVISIBLE LANDS is a touching and different performance that tells the story of the massive human flight from the war-torn countries in the Middle East. The two performers transform their bodies into a living stage where refugees try to find a road to take. This way, the refugee crisis becomes quite present. It literally creeps under the skin when the bare back turns into a desert, the spine into insurmountable mountains and the great sea lies just below the nose. It is a show without words and with a quiet sound that constantly reminds us why these people must rise and walk.

Behind the scenes

Livsmedlet Theatre is a theatrical collaboration between Ishmael Falke (puppeteer, director, actor) and Sandrina Lindgren (dancer, choreographer, theatre maker). The collaboration was established in 2011 with the shared ambition to create relevant and innovative visual theatre works that challenge audience’s perspective of their surroundings and everyday life. Their works are derived from a mix of dance, physical theatre, contemporary puppetry and object theatre, combined with surprising and sometimes unconventional choices in storytelling, materials and working methods. Livsmedlet Theatre create works for the streets as well as for the theatre.
