Fresh air for the theatres?

International theatre festival of Aarhus

The festival brings a number of excellent performing arts, that challenge and amuse the audience - regardless of age, wallet size or theatre experience. There will be high quality and unique experiences that stimulate the senses, heart, brain and laughing muscles.

More than performance

Besides Danish and international high quality performances ILT also offers multiple side activities during the festival. These events make it possible to experience the universe of stage art in alternative ways.

Get behind the scenes and meet the performing artists in an artist-talk, or at the delicious theatre brunch.

Try it! It makes a difference to be a part of it. It does nothing not to be.

Background, goals and visions

THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE ART FESTIVAL OF DENMARK

ILT stands for 'International Living Theatre' and that is exactly what this international theatre-biennale is all about. In May 2015 ILT brought international stage art of high quality to Aarhus for the fourth time.

Background

The idea of an international theatre festival arose out of passion in the stage art environment of Aarhus, and the festival is organized by a number of Aarhus based theatres joining together in an ambitious collaboration.

To day ILT is enrolled in The Culture Action Plan of The City of Aarhus as Aarhus has been appointed European Capital of Culture 2017.

The overall goal for ILT is to give audience access to a high class selection of contemporary international stage art. Further more the festival aims to reach new audiencens and to strengthen the public interest in theatre, dance and performance in general.

THE MISSION

Creating a short and intense stage art festival every second year in the city of Aarhus and the region.

THE VISION

The festival is fully established in 2017.

Showing the best plays and stage art experiences of the world by presenting the best stage art companies of the world.

Attract stage art interested people from Aarhus, Denmark and the rest of Europe - and thereby putting Aarhus and the theatres of the city on the world map.
