ILT Festival

The ILT Festival is held every other year in Aarhus and is organized by Theatre Svalegangen, The Theater Group 38 and Aarhus Theatre. When the theatre season ends in late spring and the hustle and bustle of rehearsals and performances are scaling down, then all of the city's theaters come together to present some of the world's most acclaimed international artists.

The ILT Festival is organized for the fifth time in 2017 with carefully selected performances in a wide range of genres, spanning everything from classical drama to dance, new circus, physical theatre, installations, puppetry and animation theatre, music and theatre concerts. The festival also features workshops, artist-talks and other exciting events.
The Theatre Gruppe 38 is one of the three theatres who arrange the festival, and artistic director Bodil Alling is one third of the curator group in charge of selecting the performances for the ILT Festival.

Background for the festival

The idea of creating an international performing arts biennale in the city of Aarhus, originally came to be out of pure passion in the theatre environment in Aarhus. Today the festival is written into the municapl cultural plan.

The main purpose of the ILT Festival is to present the audience to som of the most intriguing international theatre, dance and performance. Furthermore, the festival strives to build bridges to new goups of audiences and strengthen the audiences interest in the performing arts.
